Have you got into any Japanese artist lately?

This idea came from the time @crimsonknight4 asked that at the chat randomly

I thought it would be interesting to have a thread in which we can talk about the latest Japanese artists we've started to like, talk about the first impression, if you expected you were going to like them, recommend any song, etc.

Or just say the name of the singer/band/duo/whatever!

In my case, I've started getting into Wagakki Band!

For those who don't know, it's a folk-metal band which mixes Japanese traditional music (和楽器-wagakki- means Japanese traditional instruments) and what they call 'western'.

This is their most famous song by now:

Actually, it's a cover of Hatsune Miku's song (their first album, 'VOCALO Zanmai', is a vocaloid cover album).

Well......Started with Stereopony . That lead to Draft King. That lead to Wagakki Band. That Lead to Babymetal. That lead to band Maid. Somewhere in the middle of that I bumped into this fine sight and here I am! AND: Well...OK I went and listened to Silent Siren. Where they are all soft and girly pink "true love is FOREVER" unicorns kittens and rainbows.-------- Band Maid is in your face A** kicking rock in a maid costume with a fifth of whisky and a bull whip. They came to Party-Kick A** and burn the mother board out. Now I like Girly pink on girls. Good girls are soft and gentle and stick around. I married a girly girl. But "BAD" girls remember to pack the bourbon , spare strings & drum sticks and can kick start the Harley . They are fun to play with if you can get to the Exit BEFORE the hangover. LONG LIVE ROCK GIRLS!

    Ill plug 3 bands.
The first is SPECIALTHANKS, if you like American punk rock, then you'll really like this band. The vocalist has a really strong voice and great English skills.

Next is GIRLFRIEND which I am constantly plugging. They're gonna be big. Rick Rack level potential, seriously. They're so young too. Ill just let their skills speak for them.

Last is Pulmo light, not too many releases but all their songs are great. Another band with a strong vocalist, but I also love their guitar.

Ok. Just finished the listen. SPECIALTHANKS . Soft and lacking passion. Probably that one song. I liked them well enough to try again tomorrow after I get my sleep. GIRLFRIEND You are dead right about this one. Young but with REAL potential. If they survive the first album/tour/member loss they could become great. PULMO LIGHT yes this band is another showing a great start. Like I said if they survive the first shock of the real music industry they might be great. The good news is that they are all young, with plenty time to grow and learn.----------0815 local. I just sampled some SPECIALTHANKS songs from you tube. I REALLY liked "Never give up" so as I suspected it was just the one song.

Currently my favorite is BiSH, who I've been following pretty much since they formed. They actually just made their major album debut, and it's fantastic. Actually all of their music is fantastic. I honestly think they're at least a million times better than BiS, their spiritual predecessors, ever were(I was never a BiS fan really).

Also, I very recently discovered Suck a Stew Dry. They seem to be an indie band but other than that I don't really know anything about them.

Thanks to my Youtube recommendations, a cheerful all girl japanese band showed up: Silent Siren
I've already listened to their album 'S', and I've to say that they sound really good!

They also covered ZONE's 'Secret Base ~Kimi Ga Kureta Mono~', which seems to have been covered many times (Scandal covered it too)

Here is my first 'meeting' with them:

I think I can now safely say that BiSH has actually ousted Stereopony as my desert island band(well... idol group, but you get the idea), something I probably wouldn't have thought possible. I'm pretty sure I haven't gone a day without listening to at least one BiSH song in at least a year and a half.

Lately I've been getting more and more into the underground idol scene. Here's some of my current favorites:

BiS - They were re-formed quite suddenly last year, and while I was never a big fan of the old BiS, I'm liking the new BiS quite a lot. They recently released their newest music video, which features their two new members as well as the return of Kamiya Saki(a former member from the latter days of the old BiS and the leader of GANG PARADE), who has been temporarily traded for Aya Eight Prince until September.

GANG PARADE - Originally a duo named Plastic 2 Mercy, one of the two left and they reformed around Kamiya Saki as P.O.P.(Period Of Plastic 2 Mercy), and later changed their name to GANG PARADE. It seems like things have finally stabilized for the most part, barring the current temporary trade of their leader and only remaining original member, Saki, for Aya from BiS. I'm very, very, very obsessed with their newest single, FOUL.

JyuJyu - Idols with a gothic lolita horror image. They were originally a duo, but last year one of the two, Shirai, left and they picked up two new members, Miori and Minoru to accompany Neu, who remained. They are absolutely fantastic at creating an atmosphere musically and with their dancing, which makes them a real treat to see live. I'm linking the video to Noroihajime, their second-newest single, because the video is incredibly well done.

Guso Drop - Hardcore idols, their fans are known for being exceptionally wild, which causes their lives to be generally seen as somewhat intimidating. They are about as likely to be crowdsurfing during their lives as the fans are, haha. They are definitely a group that must be experienced live. If you're in the Tokyo area, they perform pretty much every Monday night at Meguro Rockmaykan, so you should definitely check them out if you get the chance... though you may want to keep to the far back if you don't think you can handle all the moshing and crowd surfing. The video I'm linking is for Gushin, which is kind of a tribute song to their fans. It's a bit out of date in terms of the current membership, however.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E45_ijWmy20

Malcolm Mask Mclaren - An idol group who wears those sick masks the Japanese are generally so fond of. They actually used to even perform with the masks on, but don't really do that anymore, presumably because trying to sing through the masks is generally not conducive to a good sound. Musically they are pure, straight up punk rock. Unfortunately, one of their members is leaving in June due to health problems(she's been missing numerous lives lately). Here I'm linking the video for their newest single, Bordeaux.

Long time no write here lol

I've been getting into many Japanese artists, so I'll put here the most important ones:

    GRANRODEO
I first listened to them in the anime Kuroko no Basket (they made most of the OST) and fastly got stuck with them.

Curious fact: they also made the opening for Bungou Stray Dogs 1st season, and the seiyuu of the anime's character Chuuya Nakahara is the vocalist of GRANRODEO.

Here is their song 'Can Do', Kuroko no Basket's first OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gou49bzZrvo

    BRADIO
Also discovered them because an anime: Death Parade.
I thought the opening was great so I listened to their album 'POWER OF LIFE': 200% recommendable.
They have a very cool funk rock style hehe

Here is Death Parade OP: 'Flyers' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wh8FgsEtNQ

    Kenshi Yonezu
This one is a solo artist and... surprise! I knew him because of the animes Sangatsu no Lion (the ED song 'orion') and Boku no Hero Academia (the OP song 'PEACE SIGN').
He started creating music with Vocaloid (he was known as Hachi) until he made his debut in 2012 with his real name and voice.

Here is 'PEACE SIGN', the 1st OP of Boku no Hero Academia's second season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aJVr5tTTWk
